Harry Beattie, 97, of Rockford Illinois, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022. He was born February 14, 1925, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of George and Annie (Wynne) Beattie. He married Mary Ellen Thomas on February 11, 1978, in Plainfield, IL. Harry was a retired CLU-Chartered Life Underwriter. He enjoyed bowling, reading, playing cards, Dominoes, and spending time traveling with Mary in their motor home. They were snowbirds and spent many winters in Arizona. He was a life member of the LLL Society; a life member of the Shriner’s; a member of the Shriner’s Parade Staff; a member of the Royal Order of Jesters; a life member of the Kachina Klub; and a brother of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Illinois. Harry is survived by his wife Mary; his daughters Cynthia Franklin and Janet Beattie; grandchildren Hannah, Nathan, Kathryn and Anne; and Mary’s children Jeff (Sherry) Thomas, Mona (John) Siebel, Sue (John) Wenger; grandchildren Lauren, Scott (Arianna), and Arthur; great grandchildren Bryce, Brie, Leni, and Lawson. Harry was predeceased by his parents, his siblings, his daughter Sharon Matthias, and two sons-in-law Allan Matthias and Chuck Franklin. Per Harry’s wishes there will be no visitation and/or service. Special thanks to those who helped care for Harry during his illness: OSF Hospice and Wesley Willows E-Wing and Hunt Terrace staffs.
