Harold W. “Curly” Gifford, 96, of Rockford, IL, passed away on December 6, 2024, at Wesley Willows Nursing Home. He was born May 11, 1928, the son of Fay and Alice (Stephenson) Gifford. He married Vivian C. (Owens) Weaver on September 2, 1966. Curly worked for Allied, Acme, and Meyer Concrete Companies, Zatrell Auto Body, and Cord Construction, retiring in 2012. He enjoyed vacations with Vivian, family gatherings, gardening, keeping up with his home, having breakfast with his brother Stan, and Sunday services at church.
Curly is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Wendy and Bill Scott; son-in-law Mike Woods; grandchildren Jennifer (Tim) Jackson, Jeanine (Nick) Fadness; and Robert Weaver; great-grandchildren Lauren, Alyssa, Olivia, Kya, Preston, Alexis, Jordan, and Gunnar; sister-in-law Eileen Gifford; and many nieces and nephews from the Gifford, Weaver, and Owens families. He is predeceased by his wife Vivian; son Mike Weaver; daughter Marcia Woods; grandchildren Louie Elliott and Julie Hammack; his dog April; and brothers Art, Rich, and Stan Gifford.
Per Curly’s request, cremation rites were accorded. Burial will take place in the spring of 2025 at Willwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 3555 McFarland Rd., Rockford, IL 61114 or to Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary, 111 N. 1
