Gregory Allen Bergeron, 67, of Loves Park, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, with his children by his side.
Greg was born on December 10, 1957, to Robert and Darlene (Hocking) Bergeron in Rockford, Illinois. He grew up in a large, lively household as the middle child of thirteen—six siblings above him and six below—each of whom he shared a unique and loving relationship with. After graduating from Hononegah High School, Greg began a long and dedicated career as a machinist, known for his generosity, strong work ethic, and willingness to lend a hand to anyone who needed it.
Greg was an easy-going man with a gentle, giving heart. He had a natural way of making people feel welcome, quickly becoming a friend to anyone he met. Greg loved the simple joys of life and embraced them with a humor that made every moment a little brighter. He was a loyal Green Bay Packers fan, cheering loudly whether they were winning or testing his patience—which they often did. He took great pride in caring for his lawn and enjoyed admiring it with a cold beer in hand as if it were his own personal masterpiece. Some of his happiest moments were spent grilling out with his family, with Led Zeppelin playing in the background or reruns of
The Three Stooges
offering their familiar humor, all paired with his warm, easy laugh that made everyone feel at home.
But Greg's greatest joy in life came from his family. He was a devoted father to his children—Gregory and Amanda—and nothing made him happier than spending time with his grandchildren: Sophia, Max, Lincoln, and Braylee. He worked tirelessly to always provide for his children, teach them not to sweat the small things in life, and remain a steady presence of support for them.
Greg is survived by his wife, Lisa; his children, Gregory (Taylor) Bergeron and Amanda (Ben) Nguyen; and his grandchildren, Sophia, Max, Lincoln, and Braylee. He is also survived by his siblings, Tim (Michelle) Bergeron, John (Deann) Bergeron, Mike (Renee) Bergeron, David (Jina) Bergeron, Gary (Karlene) Bergeron, and Nancy (Rick) Saunders; his sister-in-law, Kathy Bergeron; his brother-in-law, Tim Grosch; and countless nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his siblings Jeffery Bergeron, Sharon Grosch, Bruce Bergeron, Robert Bergeron, Dennis Bergeron and Kevin Bergeron.
A celebration of life will be held at 1pm on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the Roscoe VFW, 11385 2nd St. Roscoe, IL.
