Gordon R. Pingel, Sr., 87, of Machesney Park, passed away on June 22, 2025. He was born on February 3, 1938, in Tunnel City, WI; the son of William and Ernestine (Sherer) Pingel. Gordon married his high school sweetheart, Karleen Hall on September 26, 1956. He was very proud to have been married for 65 years until Karleen passed away on November 9, 2022. He retired from Sundstrand where he worked as an aviation machinist for many years. Gordon was a musician and played the guitar. His main priority was always his family.
Survivors include his children Gordon Pingel, Jr., Cheryl (Tom) Barber, Debra (Gregg) Holcomb, Karleen (Rusty) Roop, and Michael Pingel; daughter-in-law Bonnie Pingel; 27 grandchildren; 25 and one on the way great-grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; siblings William (Roxie) Pingel, Nellie McCoy, Ada Thompson; sister-in-law Linda Pingel; many nieces and nephews; girlfriend Marion Kern; and special family members Heather Branscomb and Julie Pingel. He is predeceased by his parents; son Robert Pingel; siblings Albert, Martin, and Edwin Pingel, Maybelle (Roy) Hanson, Roseanne (Jake) Gates, and Ruby Pingel; and brothers-in-law Jim McCoy, Paul Thompson.
