Gloria Jean Stokes, 79, of Rockford, passed away on March 4, 2024, in Serenity House in Oregon. She was born on June 20, 1944, in Rockford; the daughter of Carl and Alice (Hunt) Foss. Gloria married Howard Stokes on August 4, 1962. She enjoyed reading and playing computer games. Gloria loved animals and over the years she had many cats and dogs that held a special place in her heart.
Survivors include her children Barb Schumaker, Jeff Stokes, and Becky Lambert; granddaughter Hannah Stokes; great-granddaughter Aspen Stokes; and several nieces and nephews; and best friend Susan Dethlesfsen. She is predeceased by her parents Carl and Alice Foss; husband Howard Stokes; son-in-law Dave Lambert; and siblings Elaine Foss, Gene Foss, June Ortberg, and Barbara Foss.
There will be a private graveside service at a later date. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 6204 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111.
