Gloria Ohnstad

Gloria May Ohnstad, 84, of Kings, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2023.  Gloria was born to Leslie and Alice (Meinert) Englehart on July 22, 1938 in Winnebago, Illinois, and shortly after they moved to Rockford, Illinois, where she attended school until she was 15 years old. Gloria went to work at A&W Root Beer stand, where she met her future husband, Harold Ohnstad in 1954, and then went to work at Valspar for a few years. Gloria and Harold were married in July of '55 and started to grow their rental empire. Gloria adopted two sons, Rodney Ohnstad in 1965, and Kevin Ohnstad in 1966. Gloria, Harold and the boys worked together as a family to taking care of the rentals. Gloria's husband Harold passed away in 1988, and later on she started dating Jim Lyles who resided with her until he passed in 2021.  Gloria enjoyed estate and garage sales- always looking for the next big deal. She also enjoyed going to bingo, playing cards, and drinking coffee with family and friends. Gloria is preceded in death by both parents, Leslie and Alice Englehart; sister, Betty Korsberg; brothers, Leslie Jr, and Robert Englehart; grandson, David Hook. She is Survived by her sons, Rodney and Kevin Ohnstad; grandchildren, Michael, Cherish Schwartz, Chase Ohnstad, Dillion Ohnstad; great-grandson, Antonio Schwartz, and several nieces and nephews.   At Gloria's request there will be no services at this time. The family may hold a small memorial at a later date.
