Gerald Freeman

January 20, 1955 — June 3, 2024

Gerald A. Freeman, 69, of Davis Junction, IL, formally of Spring Hill, KS and Elgin, IL, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2024.  Gerry was born on January 20, 1955, to Louis and Juanita (Dillon) Freeman in Elgin, Illinois.

Gerry grew up in Elgin and attended Larkin High School and Elgin Community College. He worked in the shipping department at Carqueville TCR Graphics for 28 years.  After moving to Kansas with his wife in 2006, Gerry drove a bus for 11 years serving the transportation and development needs of the Kansas City region. After both him and his wife retired, they moved back to Illinois in 2020 to be closer to their friends and family.

Gerry had a passion for muscle cars and collecting promo’s and 18 scale model cars.  He loved tinkering with his own car and driving around town “scooping the loop”.  He enjoyed music and could be found blasting Radar Love and other rock and roll music. He loved his old dog Joe and always said no one else ever greeted him like the way he did.

Gerry is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara (Lembke) Freeman; his son Andrew (Leslie) Freeman; 4 grandchildren: Jacob and Emersyn Perry, and Kasen and Austin Freeman; his siblings Louis and Rose Freeman; along with many nieces, nephews, family and dear friends.

Gerry is reunited with his parents; his daughter, Regina Perry, and his brothers: Jimmy and John Freeman.

Graveside burial will be private at Arlington Cemetery, Rockford.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Ronald McDonald House
