Gary Hollingsworth

Gary L. Hollingsworth, formerly of Holcomb, Illinois went home to be with the Lord on April 20, 2024. He was born on April 20, 1939 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Roy and Frances Bayles Hollingsworth. He graduated from Stillman Valley High School in 1957. After high school he enlisted in the Army Reserve where he served from 1961 to 1970. In 1963, he married Sally Morgan of Byron, Illinois in Rockford. Throughout his life, he held many managerial positions at several area companies. In 2002, he retired as Warehouse Manager from Kerry Ingredients,Beloit, Wisconsin.

Gary enjoyed camping, traveling, gardening, singing in church choirs, and playing trombone in the church orchestra. He was active in his community, where he served several terms as a member of the Kings School Board, was a Scoutmaster of the Holcomb Boy Scouts, and was a member of the Holcomb Illinois Volunteer Fire Department.

Gary is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sally; his brother, Gale (Cheryl) Hollingsworth; Daughters: Amy (Tom) Andrews, Jill (Matt) Sarto, and Susan Hollingsworth. Grandchildren: Allison (Ross) Kniseley, Garrett Andrews, Benjamin Andrews, Brian Andrews, Gabrielle (Cole) Ysteboe, Riley Sarto, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Rock Church, 6732 Harrison Avenue, Rockford, Illinois 61108. Visitation will be from 3:00 - 4:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 4:00 PM. A private family burial will be held.
