Gary Ford

Updated Service Information: Gary A. Ford, 76, of Rockford, passed away peacefully at home on February 14, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born on February 13, 1945 in Jonesboro, TN; the son of Woodrow and Louise (Chase) Ford. He married Penny Knodle on May 11, 1967 and they enjoyed 53 years together. Gary worked in the auction business and later as a co-owner/operator of The House Doctors, Inc., installing windows and siding for 30 years. He was a hard-working family man who enjoyed playing cards and helping the less fortunate. His bark was bigger than his bite. When Gary was around, a good time was had by all. Gary is survived by his wife Penny; sons Marc Ford of Rockford, IL and David Ford of San Diego, CA; daughters Michelle (Les) Erickson and Melissa (Bill) Erickson of Rockford, IL; grandchildren Kaitlynn and Jocilynn Ford, Allyson White, Calvin, Nicholas, and Jakob Erickson; great grandson Payton Wilson; sisters Janice Dillow and Sandra Drake; brother Russell (Debbie) Payne, Jr.; numerous brothers and sisters in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, stepfather Russell Payne, Sr.; sister Judy Dammann, brother-in-law Jimmy Dillow, and grandson Luke Erickson. A Celebration of life will be on Saturday, June 19, from 2 P.M. to 6 P.M. at 1011 South Alpine Road, Rockford, Illinois, 61108, with a balloon release taking place at 3 P.M.
