Florence Mae Myers, born May 2, 1936, in Macomb, Illinois, to Harold and Martha Whittlesey. She succumbed to an illness on January 18, 2024. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family.

Florence attended Galesburg Senior High School, Class of 1954. She married her high school sweetheart, Charles Thurman Myers, on June 6, 1953. They have two sons and five daughters, 19 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. In December 1955 they relocated from Galesburg, Illinois to Rockford, Illinois.

Florence worked for Harlem Foundry and Machine Company for several years as a secretary, she worked as a CNA at River Bluff nursing home for several years, and she worked at Warner Lambert for 27 years. She worked on the Listerine line, the Freshen-Up line, and the Mini mints line. She retired from Warner Lambert at the age of 62.

She loved to crotchet and made blankets for her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader, especially enjoying romance novels. She had a big heart and often took in stray dogs and cats.

She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years Charles Thurman Myers, Senior, children Charles (Terry) T. Myers, Junior, F. Berneice (Reverend Patrick) Giles, Lorraine (Rick) M. Karsten, William H. Myers, Joan (John) E. Siam, Christine (Brian) A. Clark, and Toni A. Myers. Florence is predeceased by her parents, her sister Martha Stewart, two granddaughters, Debra Myers and Lori Karsten, four sisters-in-law, Bonnie Myers, Connie Myers, Mary Matson, Janet Benassi, and one brother-in-law, David Myers.

A celebration of life service will be officiated by Reverand Patrick Giles, at New Life Tabernacle Church, 5414 Reimer Drive; Roscoe, Illinois 61073 on February 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., a luncheon in the fellowship hall will follow the service.
