Edward Pendergrass

UPDATED SERVICE INFORMATION:
Edward “Gary” Pendergrass, 69, of Machesney Park, passed away on February 3, 2022, in his home. Born September 6, 1952, in Clayton, Missouri; son of Arnold and Nettie (Taylor) Pendergrass.  Gary served proudly in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed gambling, slot machines were his favorite, and shopping with his grandkids, especially for fireworks with Joshua. His life revolved his children and grandchildren. Gary had coffee with Michelle every morning, and weekly dinners at BWW with Mike. Michelle’s daycare children knew him as “Grandpa Clown”. He will be missed by so many. Gary is survived by his loving family, children: Michelle Watkins (Cory Archibald)  and Michael Pendergrass; the greatest joys of his life, his grandchildren: Taylor, Logan, and Joshua Watkins, and Jazmine Pendergrass (Demion Ferguson), Braden and Laney Archibald; his soon to be first great grandson;  his siblings Marie Norup, Jane (Wayne) Hurd, Wendy (Wayne) Salveson, Penny (Tom) Kane, Patty (Jim) Bortoli; several nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children and forever friend, Judy Pendergrass. He is predeceased by his parents; brothers Joe and Rick Pendergrass; brother-in-law William Norup; niece Correenna Gesner; and great-nephew Brady Gesner. A Celebration of Life will be 2 to 5 pm, February 26, 2022, at Dusty Boots Saloon and Eatery, 3907 Broadway, Rockford, IL 61108. Military honors will be at 2 pm.
