Edward Morris

Edward (Papa Bear) Morris, age 80, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025. Ed was born on October 4, 1945, in Kearney, Nebraska to Harold and Cerise Morris. Ed attended East High School in Rockford, IL. After he graduated, he attended Rockford College and Whitewater University before joining the Army. He was stationed in Germany for two years in the 24th Signal Battalion.

Ed was a member and leader of the boy Scouts. He spent several years in sales and later shared his many talents and passion for serving others in his various occupations. Ed was known for his sense of humor and quick wit. He always had a "dad joke," a great laugh, and a bright smile that lit up the room.

Ed married his wife Ginger (Ploum) on July 15, 1967, and built a wonderful family together. His children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life.

Ed will be dearly missed by his wife Ginger, his son, Nick Morris, daughter-in-law, Sheri Morris, daughter, Cathy Fentress, son-in-law, Joseph Fentress, grandson, John Preville, granddaughter, Kheryssa Preville, grandson, Joshua Preville, granddaughter, Mitsu Fentress, brother, Cecil Morris, sister, Sandy Morris, honorary son, Charles Pike and his family, Linda, Natalie, and Emily Pike, along with his adopted band of "misfits."

The family would like to thank every person at St. Anne Place for the love and care they all gave Ed. They will forever be his angels.
