Dorothy Fant

Dorothy Fant, 88, of Loves Park, IL passed away June 24, 2022. Born in Chicago, IL on December 28, 1933, and moved to Ontarioville, IL in 1943.  Attended Saint Edward's High School in Elgin, IL. Graduated from Northern Illinois University, Dekalb, IL with a degree in Education. Dorothy was a teacher in the Harlem school district and private Rockford elementary school for many years.  Having grown up in the Chicago area, she loved to visit the downtown and all the activities Chicago has to offer. Chicago held many memories for her. She enjoyed spending time with her family and spent many years visiting & vacationing in the Lake Ripley, WI area with her family. She loved to travel and visited much of the USA, including 4 trips to Europe during her retirement years. Attended Lutheran Church of Good Shepherd, Rockford, IL.  Dorothy is survived by her husband of 66 years, Orville. 5 children, Dean (Robin) Fant, (Machesney Park, IL), Steven Fant (Ft Walton Beach, FL), Carol Markee (Loves Park, IL), Connie (Kerry) Pond, (Loves Park, IL), and Susan Fant (St Cloud, FL). 7 grandchildren, Ryan, Michael, Katie, Andrew, Steven, Allison and Christopher. 2 great grandchildren, Madison and Henry, and baby Greyson due end of July. Brother Richard (Suki) Miazga, and 2 sisters, Mary Miazga Hill and Donna Howser Stephens. Predeceased by her parents, Benedict and Veronica. A private family service will be held at a future date.
