Doreen Raye Erdman, 71, of Freeport, IL, passed away on February 28, 2025. Born in West Allis, WI, on January 20, 1954, Doreen lived a life full of love, kindness, and dedication to her family and community. She met her beloved husband, Alan Wayne Erdman, in Milwaukee, WI, and they married in June 1997, sharing 27 years of companionship. Together they built a life filled with adventure, traveling to Mexico, the Caribbean, and Brazil. They moved to Freeport for Wayne's job, where they made their house a home.
Doreen worked for 25 years in a factory before retiring, but she was never one to slow down. She was always busy, whether remodeling her own home-single-handedly renovating the kitchen and bathroom- fishing, camping or working in the yard. She spent time with her father woodworking, yet she was a great cook. Her creativity shined through in the sweaters, socks, and soaps she made, as well as the quilts she sewed for the beds in the Ronald McDonald House.
Doreen had a deep love for animals, sharing her home with two cats and a dog, and even raising three baby squirrels. But her caring nature extended far beyond her pets-she was always looking out for others. As a devoted member of Wels Evangelical Lutheran Church, she donated her time to those in need. She also spent time helping elderly residents in nursing homes, both in Freeport and at Park View, taking them shopping, playing bingo with them, and caring for them just as her mother did. Family was the center of Doreen's life. She was incredibly close to her loved ones, always there to support them, especially in times of need. She spent three summers caring for sick family members, showing the same love and devotion she carried in all aspects of her life. She loved her husband and family dearly, and her kindness and generosity will be forever remembered.
Doreen is survived by her husband Wayne Erdman; her brothers Gary Klamrowski; Bruce Klamrowski; her sisters Amy (Kevin) Merkley; Sister Barbara (David) Heller; nieces Amanda; Candace; and Samantha; special thanks to her cousin Jenny; Kowalksi; loving friends; and ladies from her church; lastly her two cats Glory; and Glee.
She is predeceased by her parents Raymond, and Dolores (Kowalksi) Klamrowski; and her brother Jeff Klamrowski. A celebration of life will be held on Monday the 10, 2025 at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 502 Orth Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111 at 11am.
