Donna J. Dobzynski 75, of Rockford passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 after a long illness. Born March 2, 1945 in Rockford to Elmer F. & Marguerite (Eastman) Wagner. Donna married Walter (Wally) Dobzynski in Rockford on March 24, 1984 after a 5 year courtship. Donna worked as a waitress in her younger years and at Ello Furniture, Holiday Express and MD Preferred Solutions until retiring at the age of 62 in 2007. She was a member of Cathedral of St. Peter church in Rockford for many years. Donna really loved her motorcycle rides with Wally even if it was just a short ride for ice cream. She spent many hours’ scrapbooking & gardening. She enjoyed her nights playing Bunko and the coffee outings with her sisters and nieces. She especially liked being able to keep in touch with family and friends on social media. It was great that she learned how to navigate Facebook so she could stay involved with everyone near and far. She was a great person to invite to a gathering because she never showed up empty handed. She came with great food and always with a sunny smile to brighten the room. She had a fantastic sense of humor, even when the jokes were on her.
She always looked forward to any family party, gathering, special event and the holidays. Her husband and family meant the most to her above all else. She was very special in so many little ways and she has left an indelible mark on all of our hearts. Survived by her husband, Wally and children, Jeffrey (Tina) Spence, Dana (Michael) Vlasnik, Brian Spence, Darin (Chris) Dobzynski, Michael (Beth) Spence and Tammy Filter and many grandchildren and great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; Brother, Rick (Kathy) Wagner, Sister, Darlene (Sal) Ecklor Costanza, Sister, Debra Jacobson and Brother in Law, Chuck Wadley. All of these she loved immensely and touched deeply. Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Pat Wadley; and her brother, Russell Wagner. The family would like to give a special Thank You to Mercy Health Hospice for those that took such good care of Donna; Krystal, RN; Shelly, CNA; Mandi, SW; and special caregiver Chris. We were lucky to have you. We couldn’t have done it without any of you. We appreciated the visits from Chaplain Ken and Fr. Steve. Those were a real blessing to Donna, Wally and her family. An extra special thank you to Tammy, Donna’s daughter, for her exceptional, unending, loving care and for giving Donna the privilege to stay in her home all the way to the end. We are forever grateful. Memorial Service for Donna will be held at a later time when we hope for fewer restrictions from the Coronavirus. A small family service is being held at Cathedral of St. Peter on Friday, October 2nd, 2020 at 5pm.
