Donna Zimmerman Breuer, age 70, of Loves Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025. Born on February 2, 1955, in Monroe, Wisconsin, to Harvey and Edith Brault Zimmerman, Donna was raised in Davis, IL, and graduated from Dakota High School in 1973. On September 14, 1974, she married the love of her life, Stephen Breuer. Together, they built a beautiful life—first in Davis and later in Loves Park—sharing over 20 wonderful years of marriage until Stephen's passing in January 1995.
Donna worked with dedication at Barber Coleman and later at Warner Electric, where she proudly served as a switchboard operator. Even after losing her sight in her 30s, she never let it slow her down. Donna continued to work and live independently, inspiring everyone around her with her fierce determination, grace, and unwavering spirit.
A strawberry blonde with a feisty spirit and a heart full of passion, Donna was a proud Wisconsinite and lifelong Green Bay Packers fan—never without her "cheesehead". She brought that same energy and loyalty into every part of her life. She was also a proud lifetime member of the Roscoe VFW Post #2955, honoring her family's legacy of service and community.
She was the proud and loving mother of two daughters, Heather Breuer and Rebecca Breuer, who provided her with continued love and care throughout the years. Donna was preceded in death by her beloved husband Stephen; her parents, Harvey and Edith Zimmerman; her grandparents, Jay & Hazel Zimmerman and Albert & Eldora Brault; and her cherished dog Bailey, who brought her endless joy and companionship.
Donna will be remembered for her tenacity, humor, deep compassion, and the unwavering love she gave to those around her. Her life was a shining example of perseverance, independence, and heart. Though she faced many challenges, she met them all with courage, grace, and a smile.
She is survived by her devoted daughters, Heather Breuer and Rebecca Breuer, who will continue to honor her legacy with love and resilience, along with numerous cherished cousins.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Heartland Hospice of Rockford, IL, and Chaplain Tom for their compassionate care, support, and kindness during Donna's final days.
