Donald J. O’Brien, Sr., 82, of Beloit, died Sunday, April 21, 2019 in his home. Born December 24, 1936 in Fort Atkinson, WI; son of Clark and Mary (McCune) O’Brien. Married Delores Stauffacher in 1996. Worked for Beloit Corp. as a maintenance painter, retiring in 1997. Donald had a heart of gold and was generous to a fault. O'Brien loved mowing his lawn with his riding lawnmower and helping the neighbors by mowing their lawns as well. He enjoyed fishing, going for a ride whether on his motorcycle or any other vehicle, and both vegetable and flower gardening. He also loved spending time with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Delores; children Donny O’Brien, Jr., Robin Simplot; Tom (Debbie) O’Brien, and Roger Jung, all of Beloit; step-children Connie Nguyen, Harold Stauffacher, Linda Morse, Ann Valadez, and Sarah Hinderliter; grandchildren Crystal (Mitch) Hemmerling, Richard (Taneisha) Alf, Christopher O’Brien, Angel (Jesse) Bessel, Joshua (Pam) O’Brien, Jeremy (Jackie) O’Brien, and Jessica (Mark) Hall; 12 step-grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren; siblings Richard (Pat) O’Brien, Diane (Bob) Grice, and Catherine Bigham; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; siblings Jean, Rose, Dorothy, Geraldine, Beverly, and Charlie; and grandson Donald James. A Celebration of Life will be 1 pm, Saturday, April 27, 2019 in Floral Lawns Cemetery Chapel, 835 Dearborn Ave. South Beloit, IL 61080, with Rev. Dave Fogderud officiating.
