Derdre Merryman

Derdre Marie Merryman passed away suddenly in her home on January 8, 2022. Derdre was born to Douglas and Patricia Doyle on July 24, 1956, in Belvidere, IL. She was a jack of all trades. She had a variety of jobs from bartending at Westmor to running machines at Aramark. She was independent and could fix anything from car engines to washing machines to sewing on a button. She was a very talented artist, studying art through various outlets throughout her life. She loved crafting, gardening, and collecting things. She was a strong-willed woman, she either liked you or she didn’t, and believe me, you knew if she didn’t. She was also a caring woman and would do anything she could for you. Her favorite times were spent with her grandkids and special sidekick, Xavier. She would take them fishing and they were always making things to use to decorate her house for every season and holiday. Derdre is survived by her sister and 5 brothers; her sons Dan (Lori) Doyle, and Eric (Rachel) Bouma; her grandchildren Andrew, Benjamin, Landen, Gretchen, Adam, and buddy Xavier. Derdre was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Patricia Doyle. A Celebration of Life will be held 12-4 pm, Sunday, March 20, 2022, at the Blackhawk Athletic Club, 2023 Broadway, Rockford, IL 61104.
