Dennis Greiner, Sr.

Dennis Michael Greiner, 81, of Rockford, passed away at his home on October 24, 2025. He was born on December 27, 1943, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Harlan and Dorothy "Dot" (Harwick) Greiner.
Dennis worked as a painter for Glawe-Bell Properties and was still helping his son-in-law paint a house just three weeks ago. He enjoyed watching wrestling and NASCAR, proudly cheering for Rusty Wallace. Dennis loved to dance and was known for his playful, flirtatious charm wherever he went.
He was a member of The Misfits bowling league on Friday nights at Park Lanes and enjoyed camping, being outdoors, and traveling to Galena, where he grew up. Dennis had a lifelong love of dogs — especially Princess, Charlie, Tinker, and many others who have passed on over the years.
Most of all, Dennis loved his family and cherished the time he spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children: Denise (Carl) Wilson, Tina (David Aurand) Jacobs, Margie Greiner, Rebecca (Jimmy) Elder, Dennis Greiner Jr., and Michael (Kristin) Greiner; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Patricia (David) Mattson; brother-in-law Daniel (Georgia) Swisher; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Ann Greiner; grandson, Kevin Swinbank; one brother; and two sisters.
