Dennis Martin

Dennis Alan Martin, 75, of Rockford, IL passed away on April 22, 2022, in his home surrounded by family. He was born April 9, 1947, son to Clifford Martin & Francis (Harris) Martin Norup. Dennis met the love of his life, Linnea Halgrimson, the first time in 1959 at the 10th Avenue swimming pool. Later, the two childhood sweethearts married on June 12, 1965. This year they would celebrate 57 wonderful years together as husband and wife. Dennis was devoted to his family and very proud of his two sons and five grandchildren. He enjoyed their visits and family gatherings. Dennis was a Heat & Frost Insulator for Local #19, he worked very hard for his family for 36 years before retiring in 2002. When he wasn’t working hard, he was playing hard, he enjoyed camping trips, snowmobiling, bowling, fishing, golfing, traveling in the motorhome, sitting by a campfire, and a good cigar. He was especially proud of bowling an 800 series and getting an Eagle while golfing with his sons at Ingersoll. Dennis & Linnea also have a wonderful group of lifelong friends that are very special to them, like family, whom he enjoyed spending time with. He is survived by his wife, Linnea; sons Bruce (Lori) and Scott; his grandchildren Breanda (Donovan), Ray (Grace), Riley, Shelby and Avery;  sister Charlotte (Warren), brothers Richard (Renee) and Doug; and brother-in-law Gene (Dianna) Halgrimson. The family would like to extend a special thank you to OSF Hospice for their compassion and care for Dennis. A memorial, Celebration of Life, will be held at the Blackhawk Club at 2023 Broadway, Rockford, IL on May 22, 2022, from 1:00 – 4:00pm.
