Deborah Peterson

It is with great sadness that the family of Deborah “Debbie” Rae Peterson announce her passing on January 7, 2022, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. She was born on February 10, 1964, in Rockford and lived most of her life in Rockford and surrounding areas. Debbie was a graduate of Hononegah High School, Class of 1982. Debbie loved the Chicago Cubs, Snoopy, the sun and moon, many seasons spent on Lake Namakagon, late night treat binges, a good belly laugh, family, and most of all her two sons Devan and Keaton. Though recent times have not been easy for Deb, she had a strong faith and admirable strength, and even on her worst days she would say “I’m blessed”. She is survived by her son Keaton Peterson; parents Carol and Curt Spangler of Cable, WI; siblings Jon (Lisa) Markell, Amy (Ed) Phillip, and Paula (James) Fagan; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and the boys’ father Richard Peterson. She was preceded in death by her son Devan Peterson and her father John Markell. A memorial is being planned for a later date. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the physicians, nurses, and staff at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center for their loving and compassionate care.
