David L. Young, 38, of Loves Park, passed away on November 19, 2021, at Swedish American Hospital. Born March 31, 1983, in Rockford; son of Louis Gulley and Connie Young. He graduated from Harlem High School in 2002. He loved animals, especially his dog Layla. He was referred to as the animal whisperer because animals always seemed to find him and love him. He was a very non-judgmental person and that was one of his greatest qualities. He was a good listener, and many people would open up to him and share very private things because he was great at keeping their secrets. David had many friends and had this aura that drew people close to him. He was good to others and would help a person in need any way that he could. He enjoyed music, especially Michael Jackson, Boyz to Men, Tupac Shakur, Bones Thugs-N-Harmony, and Prince. He also loved to cook, WWE Wrestling, and follow the San Francisco 49ers.
David is survived by his mother Connie Young; sisters Alisia (Tuan) Ngo and Khara Rivera; nieces Ashya Rivera and Amaya Ngo; nephews Damon Ngo and Gavin Powell; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; his fur baby Layla; and his best friend Morgan Busker and other father Dana Busker. He was predeceased by his father Louis Gulley; his paternal uncles Harry, Larry, Thomas, and Robert Gulley; maternal uncle Johnny Young; and maternal aunt Linda Young.
