David John Tomlin, 68, of Rockford, passed away on January 29, 2025. He was born on December 8, 1956, the son of Keith and Elizabeth (Whalen) Tomlin. David married Jan Freeman in October of 1978. He worked for Sundstrand in packaging and receiving and was a member of the UAW Union Local 592. David's most important accomplishment was becoming sober through Alcoholics Anonymous. He was sober for 13 years. David loved to drive and that is an understatement. Over his lifetime he has probably driven over a million miles. It was relaxing for him, and he enjoyed going to new places. He also enjoyed watching football, especially the Chicago Bears. Other pastimes were watching adult cartoons like Family Guy, listening to rock music, and grilling…no matter the weather.
Survivors include his son Daniel (Abigayle Washburn) Tomlin; siblings Chris Duncan, Kathy Martin, Vince Tomlin, Mark (Isabelle) Tomlin, Pat (Nancy) Tomlin, Beth Tomlin, and Steve Tomlin; numerous nieces and nephews; his BFF Jackie Pollack; and several AA members over years. He is predeceased by his parents; and wife Jan on February 9, 2006.
