David E. Sandberg, 46, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center on Thursday, May 19, 2022. David was born on November 21, 1975, in Rockford, to Florence (Daniels) and Philip Sandberg, where he was raised. He attended Guilford High School. He went on to marry the love of his life, Andrea Tamborello, on May 18, 2002, and passing away just one day after his twentieth wedding anniversary. David was employed by the United Parcel Service as a Feeder Truck Driver. He was a member of Teamsters Local 710 for 25 years. David was an enthusiastic lover of music, especially the Grateful Dead. He continued to follow them as they evolved into other bands throughout the years. David also loved blues, bluegrass, rock, and jam bands. He was in his element going to concerts, as well as traveling. David lived life to the fullest without holding back. He was outgoing and known to speak his mind. He loved his friends and family dearly, and always cherished his time with them. David was a fan of the Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, and the Cubs and enjoyed going to games. He was an excellent cook and made the best steaks. He also loved his German Shepherds, having two over the years with his wife Andrea. Guinness and Clyde have been patiently waiting to greet him at the Rainbow Bridge. David leaves behind his wife, Andrea; parents, Florence and Philip; sister, Amy Sandberg; mother and father-in-law, Jo Ann and Steven Tamborello; sister-in-law, Tiffany (Albright) Tamborello; brother-in-law, Joe Tamborello; newly born nephew, Benjamin Tamborello, and many beloved family members and friends. David’s family would like to extend their gratitude to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center's Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department, and GI Department for all of the support and care they provided David. Another heartfelt thank you to all of David’s friends and family members during this time. A Celebration of Life will be held for David on Sunday July 3, 2022 from 2-5pm at Lt. C.A. Robert Carlson, American Legion Post #1207 1011 S Alpine Rd., Rockford, IL 61108. The family welcomes you to wear a t-shirt of your favorite band, a tie-dye t-shirt, or anything with one of the Chicago sports team on it in David's memory.
