David Hofmeister

David L. Hofmeister, 79, of Winnebago, passed away peacefully in his home on September 24, 2022. He was born on September 9, 1943, in McKeesport, PA; the son of David Hofmeister and Eleanor McDowell. He graduated from Mainland High School. He was a member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) and was the paint shop manager for Chrysler. He was a Daytona Beach lifeguard. David married Pennie K. Maxwell on April 21, 2017. They were member of the Winnebago United Methodist Church. David loved to travel; his traveling took him to Norway, Hawaii, Colorado, Florida, and many other destinations. He enjoyed golfing, playing guitar, and singing. He even won a karaoke contest in Florida. David is survived by his loving wife Pennie; children Troy (Joe) Egeberg, Teri (Bob) Caldwell; stepchildren Rick (Annette) Mandock, Kelly Michaels, Chad (Lindi) Reemsta, Louis (Thana) Reemsta, II, Janell Ferguson, Ashley Shockley, Jasmine (Antonio) Richardson, and Beck Johnson; grandchildren Lydia, Madilyn (Lance), Christine (David), Kenny (Meranda), Madeline, Ava, Aria, Xavier, Rhiann (Spencer), Hayle, Rachel, Renee, KayAnn, Kristi, Angie, Alex, Zack, Miranda, Patten, Pierce, Leah, and Gavin; great grandchildren Kylie and Kensley, Hailey and Liam; siblings Ruth Ann Bartholomew, and Thomas (Cindy) Devlin; and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father and stepmother David and Dotty Hofmeister; mother and stepfather Eleanor and Ben LeFeat; and wives Doris and Carol, stepston Nathan Reemsta. A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 11 am in the Winnebago United Methodist Church, 213 W. Elida St., Winnebago, IL 61088 and another on November 19, 2022, in Daytona Beach Florida with a place and time to be announced. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 712 Windsor Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111.
