David A. "Dave" Dace, 79, of Roscoe, IL passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024. He was born on January 1, 1945, in Chicago, IL to Marion R. and Virginia (Flodin) Dace. Dave was a graduate of Auburn High School in Rockford, IL. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater before enlisting in the United States Navy.
Much of Dave’s career was spent in the insurance industry working for his family’s insurance agency in Toluca, IL.
Dave was an avid golfer throughout his life. He was especially fond of time spent at Tall Oaks, Short Hills, Mauh-Nah-Tee-See, and Clearbrook Country Clubs. Dave also enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, skiing, camping, and kayaking.
He is survived by his children: daughter, Melinda (Steve) Wunder of Saugatuck, MI; son, D. Erik Dace of West Peoria, IL; and step-daughter, Karin (Cory) Cox of Rockford, IL; his grandchildren: Jacob (Lauren) Pettinga, Zachary Pettinga, Nicholas Pettinga, Lance (Janelle) Cox, and Ace Cox; and his siblings: sister, Pamela (Dale) Bartholomew and brother, Andrew (Julie) Dace. Dave is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and his former wife of 22 years, Patricia Dace. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
A celebration of life for Dave will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Red Door Animal Shelter of Chicago, IL in honor of Dave's compassion for animals.
