Darlene Scott

December 31, 1969 — July 18, 2024

Darlene Kay (Ross) Scott of Machesney Park IL., entered Glory on July 18, 2024, at home with her family after a brief illness. Formerly of German Valley, IL, Darlene graduated from Forreston High School in 1962, and married her high school sweetheart Michael Howard Scott in 1964. They initially resided in southern Illinois after marrying before relocating to Rockford and eventually to Machesney Park. Darlene was employed by Marion Health Care for over 25 years and later earned her CNA before providing day care for her grandchildren. She was a devout member of Beth Eden United Methodist Church in Rockford where she served God and the church parish in numerous roles such as Youth Leader, temporarily as Church Secretary, numerous committees and groups such as Drama Ministry, Glory B’s, United Methodist Women, and Choir. She was also the “Quartet Mom” for the Alleluia Quartet, of whom her son is a member. Darlene was always willing to share a laugh, offer and provide love, send cards, and visit church members and extended family. She loved gardening and being outdoors in her bare feet, summer vacations with her family, and watching Chicago sports and her soap operas. She led and served her family with limitless energy and devotion, abiding love, grace, and forgiveness, and provided countless memories of laughter and joy. She is survived by her husband Michael, her sons Todd (Iris) and Chris (April) Scott of Machesney Park, her sister Dianne (Dean) Nicholson of Freeport, and her grandchildren Aleczander, Ty, Connor, Mary, Paige, and Mckenzie. She is predeceased by her parents Albert and Esther Ross, and her brother Dave (Ruth) Ross.
