Daniel Harold Johnson

Daniel “Dan” Harold Johnson, age 69, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, at Lincolnshire Place in Loves Park. He was born on October 5, 1956, and raised in Rockford. After graduating from East Rockford High School, he joined his father’s construction company and became the owner of the Johnson Plastering company.

In his spare time, Dan, a member of the Racine Yacht Club, was passionate about captaining racing sailboats on the Great Lakes and the Florida Keys, as well as racing iceboats on Lake Geneva. When he wasn’t sailing, he was an avid fisherman.

Dan is survived by his brothers, Steve Johnson and Gordie Johnson, sisters-in-law Mary Wynn-Johnson and Heidi Johnson, stepmother Anne Johnson, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Gail Johnson and his parents, Gordon Johnson and Barbara (Johnson) Wixom.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Lincolnshire Place, as well as Serenity Hospice, for their compassionate care and support of Dan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made Serenity Hospice – Oregon, Illinois.
