Daniel C. Fitzpatrick, Sr., 90, of Dekalb, IL, formerly of Aurora, IL, passed away peacefully at home on August 4, 2026, surrounded by his daughters and grandson. He was born on December 2, 1935, in Aurora, IL to the late Chester Fitzpatrick and Louise (Claus) Fairweather.

He proudly served in the US Navy on the USS Hornet CA-12 from 1953 to 1956. After his discharge from the Navy, he worked as an ironworker through the Ironworkers Local 393 in Aurora, IL until his retirement. On November 15, 1958, he married Diane C. (Benuska) Fitzpatrick.

In his younger days he loved playing pool. He loved his Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. He also loved drinking his Pabst Blue Ribbon beers in his garage watching game shows with his dear friend Bobby Fields.

He is survived by his former wife, Diane C. Fitzpatrick, his three daughters Kathy Fitzpatrick, Karen Fitzpatrick, and Cindy Fitzpatrick-Phillips (John Phillips); 13 grandchildren, Derek Fitzpatrick, Joshua Stadel, Amy, Daniel III, and Samantha Fitzpatrick, Karie Gray, Eagle Talon, Jeffrey, and Chad Martin, Kenneth Barr, Darah, Deanna, and Drake Martinez; 22 great-grandchildren Ava Fitzpatrick, Dylan and Leigha Crumpton, Charlie and Austin Bee, Miles O’Barr, Madilyn Discher, Briella Fitzpatrick, Kayden and Oakley Parker, Olivia, Ella, Annie, and Molly Gray, Vivienne, Elowyn, Elise, Eleanor, and Cormac Martin, Kiara and Eugene Barr, and Ayana Martinez. He is also survived by his brother Gael Fitzpatrick and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father Chester Fitzpatrick, mother Louise (Claus) Fairweather, his son Daniel C. Fitzpatrick, Jr., his daughter Darlene R. (Fitzpatrick) Martin, and his brother Gary Fitzpatrick.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 pm to 4 pm, Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Phoenix Club, 515 Phoenix Court, Aurora, IL 60505. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 6204 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111. www.statelinecremations.com
