Dale Marshall

Dale Marshall, 83, of Rockford, IL, was called home by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday, July 2. Dale is survived by his wife and constant companion, JoAnne; children: Becky (Kent) Foster of Tucson, AZ, Bill Marshall of Ft Myers, FL, Jenny (Paul) Wilcox of Cape Coral, FL; step-children: Eric Wagner of Lisle, IL, Andrew (Laura) Wagner of Warrenville, IL, 10 grandchildren and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Dale was the only child of Walter and Mabel (Thoms) Marshall, born on May 22, 1939 in Elgin, IL. He grew up on a farm in Plato Center, IL. He served in the IL National Guard from 1962 to 1965. After high school he went to work for Illinois Bell/AT&T. He spent 37 years there, first as an installer/repairman and as a plant assigner until retirement. During his working years, Dale had the opportunity to work in New England on a special work assignment that ended up lasting several months. He fell in love with the east coast, especially Maine. He made many friends there & has regularly vacationed there since. He enjoyed collecting, restoring & selling antiques. He and a good friend had a small antique business for several years after retirement. He enjoyed and had a talent for watercolor painting & carving birds. He always marveled and praised God for His intricacies of each creation! Dale loved the time we spent with our church family, whether in worshipping or serving or Bible Studies over the last several years. His love of our Lord was apparent & became more so over the weeks of his illness.  Services for Dale will be held on Friday, 7/15, at Maywood Evangelical Free Church, 3621 Samuelson Rd, Rockford, IL. Visitation starts at 10:00 am to 11:30 followed by a service & luncheon.
