Crystal Collins

December 4, 1944 — October 2, 2024

Crystal Rae Collins, 79, of Milledgeville IL, died Wednesday October 2, 2024, after sustaining injuries due to a fall at home.  She was born on December 4, 1944, to (George) Wesley and Beth (Coyle) Sarber after making their way to Freeport IL during a heavy snowstorm.  A 1963 graduate of Milledgeville HS, her working career included delivering the local paper, car hopping at the Sterling A&W, working on the factory floor at Central Manufacturing, Polo IL, and teaming on multiple assembly and repair lines at Wahl Clipper, Sterling IL.

Chris leveraged multiple talents to provide her special form of love to family, friends, and strangers alike through baby blankets and books (knitted/crocheted/sewn), entire meals or individual dishes including desserts, salads, cookies, and many other delectable treats. Many a visitor to Chris' house has returned home several pounds heavier and happier!

Surviving children from her marriage to Gregory M. Coleman are Tina (Alan) Fess of Macedon, NY and Robert (Renée) Coleman of Haymarket, VA.  Surviving children from her marriage to William A. Collins are Billie Jo (Douglas) Rach of Breezy Point, MN and Anthony Collins of Pequot Lakes, MN.

She is also survived by her sister Linda (Ralph) Richards of Polo IL and numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren living throughout the United States.

She was preceded in death by an infant sister Fonda Lee, her parents, her brothers Kermit and Larry Sarber, and her husband Bill.

A celebration of life memorial is being planned for Saturday, November 30, 2024 in Milledgeville.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Crystal's name to Milledgeville Fire & Rescue or to a cancer research organization of choice.
