Colette Lima

December 31, 1969 — September 25, 2023

Colette Jeanne Piehl Lima, 55, of Forreston, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on September 21, 2023. Colette “Coco” was born on May 15, 1968, in Chicago, Illinois to Francine Bochnia and Rockne Piehl. Colette graduated from Clark County high school in Las Vegas, NV in 1986. She loved Las Vegas and frequently recounted her friends and memories made while spending time in Nevada. Colette married in 1995 and lived her life in Illinois with her children, family, friends, and many pets. She also attended classes at Highland Community College in Freeport, Illinois and worked in customer service. Colette was a beloved mother, daughter, and sister who truly loved life and lived it to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, spending time with her loved ones, and making friends wherever she went. She had the ability to love deeply and wildly and make a connection with anyone she met. She was cherished by everyone she encountered, from the strangers on airplanes to long and enduring friendships she made at every stage of life. Colette loved her three children and two nephews profoundly and frequently spoke of their accomplishments and how proud she was of them. She was an adored member of her community and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she had so many friends and extended family members that she loved to serve with a huge heart and a smile on her face. She loved Ozzy, her cats, trying anything new, traveling around the US, and creating beautiful things. The Lord has called our dear, sweet mother home, leaving us with a hole in our hearts but with grateful spirits to have known her light and her love. We will love you forever, mom. Until we meet again. Colette is survived by her three children; Samantha Lima, Courtney Lima Garcia (m. Alex Garcia), Timothy Lima, her brother; Werner Gruber (m. Jen Gruber), former spouse Samuel Lima (m. Tricia Gilman), her adored nephews, cousins, and pets. She is preceded in death by her brother; Rocky Piehl, grandmother; Jeanne Laduron, and mother; Francine Piehl.  Family, friends, and others whose lives Colette touched are invited to the Byron Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (115 S Foxrun Lane Byron, Il 61010) on Wednesday September 29, 2023, at 4PM, to reminisce, grieve, and support one another in a celebration of life.
