Cody Lavern Stamm, 61, of Forreston, IL, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2024, at Polo Rehabilitation Center under Hospice care. He gained eternal peace with his daughter at bedside, hand in hand. Cody had fought long and hard to overcome his extensive battle with GI issues.
Cody was born on August 13, 1962, in Freeport IL; son of Lavern and Marcia (Kutz) Stamm. His truck driving career spanned decades and led him to deliver goods from coast to coast. He married Gwendolyn White on October 29, 1999. While he was away from work, he loved spending time with his wife Gwen, tinkering with gadgets and gizmos, napping through Sunday Nascar, and mowing lawns. He loved his animals, especially dogs and his most recent Boston Terrier, “Puddles”. More recently, he was committed to caring for his dad, Lavern, and helping dog-sit to ensure his daughter could easily travel. Cody’s service to others was just a drop in the bucket of his kindness and love.
Cody is survived by his mother, Marcia (Gary) Buss, stepmother Helen Stamm, brother Marc (Jill) Stamm, stepsister Denise (Dan) Ball (MT), stepdaughter Kristy Tinsley (TN), daughter Shayla Stamm (IL), and grandson Parker Stamm, along with nieces and nephews.
Cody is predeceased by his father Lavern Stamm, his wife Gwendolyn Stamm, stepdaughter Misty Ensley, and his son TJ Stamm.
Services will be held at Forreston Reformed Church on Saturday January 13, 2024, at 11 AM with a visitation prior, at 10 AM. Luncheon to follow.
A celebration of life will also be held at a later date.
