Clyde Wilson

December 31, 1969 — November 15, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Clyde Robert Wilson, of Rockford, IL, formerly of McHenry, IL, announce that he passed away peacefully on November 15, 2021, at the age of 91, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on July 18, 1930 in Versailles, IL to Lawrence R. Wilson and Georgiann Root Wilson. Clyde will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Marilynn (nee Dulicek) Wilson, and children Judy (Brent) Boden, Sharon (Joseph) Rada and Joseph (Karren) Wilson; grandchildren Katherine and Connor Rada, who knew him as “Poppy,” and Mark Wilson; sisters Emma Ruth Copes of Vermont, IL and Loreeta Rogers of Wood River, IL, sister-in-law Arlene Justin of Chicago, IL and numerous nieces & nephews and friends. Clyde is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Ronnie Wilson and his brothers, John, Joseph, Elmer, Woodrow and Clarence Wilson. Clyde joined the armed forces right out of high school and enlisted in the Army Air Corps, serving as a medic in the Korean War. His Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C. in recent years was an unforgettable occasion.  He was a jack of all trades and entrepreneur, and worked as a window washer, charter boat captain, insurance agent and came out of retirement to be a greeter at Walmart, which he truly enjoyed. Clyde was also a weekly volunteer at the food pantry of First United Methodist Church of Crystal Lake, where he helped those in need. In addition, his mechanical skills allowed him to fix any bicycle, engine or motor he encountered. He enjoyed fishing and attending the events of his grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 1:00pm at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish - St. Bede Church ,
36455 N. Wilson Road ,
Ingleside, IL 60041, with a luncheon to follow. Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL will be private. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 712 Windsor Road, Loves Park, Illinois 61111.
