Christopher J Whiteford

Christopher John Whiteford, 61, of Machesney Park, passed away in his home on July 30, 2026. He was born on March 30, 1965, in Rockford, the son of John and Sharon Whiteford. Chris graduated from Rockford Christian Life High School in 1983. He owned and operated CJ Whiteford Roofing Contractors and was a roofer in the area for over 40 years.

Chris married the love of his life, Alicia, on December 31, 2020. The two shared a love of music & dancing, going on motorcycle rides, traveling, boating on the river and treasured the time they spent together. Chris was a proud member of the Rock River Homeowners Association, the Verdi Club and the Venetian Club.

A man of strong Christian faith, Chris was a devoted member of Redeemer Church where he served as an usher. He loved God, and his faith guided the way he lived his life which gave him a passion for mission trips and went on several and supported others in these efforts. He generously gave his time, talent and treasure without expecting anything in return. Above all else, Chris cherished his family. They were always his greatest priority, and he made every effort to ensure they spent meaningful time together.

When he was with his family and friends, Chris enjoyed playing cards, games, practical jokes, giving boat rides. He will be remembered for his deep faith, his love of family, and the joy he found in sharing life's simple pleasures with those he loved.

Survivors include his wife, Alicia Whiteford; son Jeremy (Debrah) Whiteford; grandchildren Weston, Walter Beau, and Wade Whiteford; parents John and Sharon Whiteford; and sister Collette Cichion. He is predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Redeemer Church, 5501 Windsor Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111, with Pastor John Dirkse officiating. A visitation will be from 9:30 am until time of service with a luncheon to follow the service. The family would like to thank their church family, family, and friends for all their love and support during such a difficult time.
