Christine A. Bubser passed away on June 9, 2025, after battling cancer for 7 years. She was born in June of 1954, the youngest child of Forrest L. and Florence H. Bubser. She graduated from Hononegah High School and attended Rockford College. Chris never married, worked a variety of jobs, and loved any and all animals.
As a young adult, Chris loved dancing to live music and listening to her favorite artist, Dan Fogelberg. She also began a lifelong passion for collecting buttons. She was very artistic, took lessons and painted pictures in oil. She loved decorating for each and every season, especially the holidays. Chris considered herself "an old soul". Anything old-fashioned or "English" appealed to her. She enjoyed reading anything architectural and collecting all types of tchotchkes; plates, trays, figurines, decorative boxes, baskets, vases, books, and magazines. She spent many enjoyable years hunting for these treasures at antique stores, flea markets, and garage sales. As her cancer progressed, Chris enjoyed watching old movies on Brit Box as well as detective shows. She had a sensitive nature and was very witty. She was generous and would thoughtfully gift those she loved.
Special thanks go to her treasure hunting friend of over 30 years, Jan Brantley and to Gale and Nancy Hobart for sharing their home and family with Chris for the past 12 years. Special thanks also to Dr. "K" and all the nurses at the Carbone Cancer Center in Rockford who knew her response to "How are you doing today" would be "I'm upright and mobile". Then she would request a beer to keep her that way, which she was always denied! Special thanks also go to Serenity House and Home in Oregon, IL, for the care shown Chris in her final days.
Survivors include her sisters Florence (Dolly) Campbell of Washington state and Hellen Miller of Rockton; sister-in-law Rhonda; brother-in-law Tom; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Chris was predeceased by her parents; siblings Loretta and Frank; two brothers-in-law; and a nephew.
Chris requested no services. A private memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 6204 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111. www.statelinecremations.com
