Chris Alan Coleman, 72, of Kingston, Illinois, passed away on November 11, 2025. He was born on April 28, 1953, in Belvidere, the son of Matt Coleman and Darlene Frint. Chris graduated from Belvidere High School in 1971. He married the love of his life, Lynda Lynch, on August 7, 2007. He worked for 28 years as a maintenance mechanic at General Mills, retiring in 2014. He was known fondly as "the Candyman" for his habit of handing out candy to coworkers, store clerks, and anyone lucky enough to cross his path.
A proud member of the Belvidere American Legion, Local 77. Chris lived a life defined by creativity, generosity, and care. He enjoyed woodworking and welding, often bringing his imaginative ideas to life with his hands. He took great pride in tending to his log home, planting trees, caring for his yard, and simply enjoying the peace of the place he loved so much. Chris had a warm heart and a joyful spirit. He loved to cook, especially pasta dishes. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.
Survivors include wife Lynda Coleman; children Amie (Derik Houpt) Coleman, Sara (Nate Musgrave) Coleman, son Brian (Mary) Lynch; grandchildren Jesse Williams, Lucy and Cole Musgrave, and Madaline and Adrian Lynch; brother John (Lynn) Coleman of Davisburg, Michigan, Steve (Suzanne) Coleman of Charlotte, North Carolina; Sue (Doug Phillips) Coleman, of Loves Park, Illinois; two nieces and two nephews; and his two cats Mischief and Callie. He is predeceased by his parents Matt and Darlene Coleman.
