Chad Lee Diestelmeier, 48, of Loves Park passed away at Javon Bea Hospital on November 24, 2023. He was born on November 12, 1975, in Galena, IL; the son of Rick Diestelmeier and Carol Wand. Chad lived at Walter Lawson’s Children’s Home since he was 8 months old. He had a smile that would light up a room and was a joy to be around. He was a very strong person for having endured so much throughout his lifetime Because of Walter Lawson’s Chad was able to enjoy a lot around the Rockford area. He would go to plays at the Starlight Theatre, Music in the Park at Sinnissippi Park, Dinner on the Dock, and the Circus, just to name a few. Many staff members have come and gone over the years, but they were always a source of strength for Chad and his mom Carol. Carol would like to specifically thank Paula and Jan for their care of Chad, and to Pam for planning all the outings that Chad was able to attend over the years.
Chad is survived by his mother Carol Hansel; father Rick Diestelmeier; sister Heather (Jason Teske) Hansel; nephew Greyson Teske; aunts Judy Wand and Elizabeth Sertle; and grandmother Rita; and several cousins.
