Catherine Aldridge

Catherine “Cathy” Elizabeth Aldridge, 78, of Stillman Valley, IL, passed away on March 15, 2026, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, with family by her side. She was born on January 23, 1948, in Belvidere, IL, the daughter of Charles and Ruby (Capes) Horath.

Cathy graduated from Byron High School in 1966. While at Byron High School she was a cheerleader all 4 years and was Senior Prom Queen. Cathy married the love of her life, Larry Aldridge, on January 27, 1968, in Byron.

Cathy was a dedicated beautician who spent many years working from her home, continuing to share her talents even into retirement. She found great joy in gardening, tending to both her vibrant flower beds and her bountiful vegetable gardens.

Each winter, Cathy cherished her time at her Florida home, where she delighted in Happy Hour gatherings with friends. She loved the simple pleasures of life—playing cards, assembling puzzles, and spending meaningful time with family and friends. An avid reader, she especially enjoyed mystery novels, and she could often be found binge-watching her favorite shows, including Perry Mason and NCIS.

Before the passing of her beloved Larry, Cathy spent many hours in the garage, a place where neighbors always knew they could find her sharing conversation and laughter. She had a lively presence on Facebook, often posting a mix of thoughts and favorite recipes, reflecting her deep love for cooking and baking. Cathy also enjoyed playing golf and fishing.
Above all else, Cathy’s greatest joy was her family, especially her cherished grandchildren, Logan, Maddi and Zach. She rarely missed Maddi and Logan’s sporting events and was always their most enthusiastic supporter, cheering them on with pride and love.

Survivors include her children Dena (Jason King) Aldridge and Jay (Denise and her sons Kasey and Ricky) Aldridge; grandchildren Maddi (Zach, the favorite) Eastman and Logan Knouse; one great grandchild on the way; and several close friends both here in Illinois and in Florida. She is predeceased by her husband Larry; and her parents Charles and Ruby Horath.
