Carolyn Werstine passed away peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2023, following a private battle with dementia. Carolyn was born on April 17, 1942, in Detroit Michigan to Fred and Sadie Ringrose. She and her three brothers grew up in the Detroit suburbs of Redford and later Livonia. She was a proud alumna of Bentley High School in Livonia, where she forged lifelong friendships. Although Carolyn came from a family with Protestant background, during her high school years Carolyn began seeking out guidance about the Catholic faith from the local Catholic priest. As her family objected, she converted upon reaching adulthood, and this was a cornerstone of the rest of her life. She married Chuck Werstine in 1963, and enjoyed living near family in Livonia Michigan for the rest of the 1960’s and 1970’s. The couple had two sons, Chuck and Mike, and Carolyn loved attending their hockey games and having them serve as altar boys at St Priscilla’s parish. Carolyn was a loving mother and staunch defender of her kids. In 1982, the family moved to the Chicago suburb of Naperville, IL, where Carolyn became an active parishioner at both St Margaret Mary and Sts Peter and Paul churches for the next 30 years. Carolyn became a daily communicant and spent considerable time in the Sts Peter and Paul adoration chapel, and formed strong friendships within the parish. As her sons grew up and married, Carolyn embraced being a grandmother, spending a great deal of time with her 7 grandchildren. Carolyn was married to Don Charlier in 2012 and moved to Homestead, Florida. They shared a lifelong love of the Detroit Red Wings, along with most of Carolyn’s extended Ringrose and Werstine family. Carolyn is survived by her husband Don Charlier; sons Chuck Werstine (Lisa), and Mike Werstine (Melissa); Grandchildren Kristina Werstine, Joseph Werstine, Matthew Werstine, Giovanna Werstine, Francesca Werstine, Luke Werstine, and John Werstine; brothers Gary Ringrose (Cindy), and Jim Ringrose; and nephews Fred Ringrose, Bill Ringrose, Steve Ringrose, Sean Ringrose, Todd Ringrose, Dave Bartlomiej, and Brian Bartlomiej.
