Carey B. Welch, 61, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at 12:45 P.M., in Roscoe, Illinois. Carey was born July 16, 1959 in Rockford, Illinois, and was the son of Gerald and Sharron Welch. He attended West High School before joining the Army. After completing boot camp in Missouri, he was stationed in Germany for most of his tour of duty where his position became Combat/Demolition Engineer. His duties included construction and bridge building. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Rockford to be with family and friends. He worked in the construction industry for most of his life. He had four children. His son, Bryan (Jamie) Welch, and three daughters, Naicia, Brooke and Brianna. He loved cooking and feeding everyone he met, including strangers on the street if he thought they needed a meal. He was generous and would give freely of his time, experience, and knowledge to help family and friends with any projects they might have. He loved reading, music, and football but most of all he loved being a grandfather to Hunter, Eleora, Ariella, and Stellah. He is survived by his children and grandchildren. His siblings, Verna “Lori” (David) Calhoun, Jeff (Libby) Welch, Scott (Gina) Welch, Sherrie Owen. His uncle Darryll, cousin Steve, nieces, nephews and special friends Rodney and Benny. He is predeceased by his grandparents, both parents, sister Penny, brother Wayne and uncle Ron. He will be missed for his humor, his inquiring mind, but mostly for his unfailing support and trust. He loved greatly and was greatly loved. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 712 Windsor Road, Loves Park, Illinois, 61111.
