Candi Murphy

March 26, 1970 — May 29, 2025

Candi Sue Murphy, 55, of Rockford, passed away on May 29, 2025, in her home. She was born on March 26, 1970, in Freeport; the daughter of Eugene and Loretta (Herbig) Baumgartner. Candi graduated from Freeport High School. She worked for many restaurants over the years. Candi married Mark M. Murphy on October 31, 2009. She volunteered at Five Gates Church. She enjoyed playing games on her phone. Candi was a people person, and she always looked forward to spending time with family and friends. She had a beautiful flower garden and collected unicorns.

Survivors include her husband, Mark Murphy; sons Dustin Baumgartner and Danny Barthel; grandchildren; sister Colleen (Steve) Babcock; brothers Todd (Teresa) Baumgartner, Theodore (Julie) Baumgartner, and Ray (Janet) Smith; several nieces and nephews, including her special niece Cali Jo (Joe) Jenzake. She is predeceased by her parents.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Five Gates Church, 821 4 ^th Avenue, Rockford, IL 61104 with Rev. Wayne Ahrens officiating. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 6204 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111. www.statelinecremations.com
