Calverta Palmer

Calverta Palmer, 77, of Rockford, passed away in his home on April 3, 2024. He was born on July 7, 1946, in Alsatia, Louisiana, the son of Calvin and Clara Bell (Hawthorne) Palmer. He married Berdena Hunter on May 10, 1987. During his life he worked as a carpet layer and in factories. He enjoyed watching sports, whether it was his favorite football teams, the Indianapolis Colts or the Seattle Seahawks, tennis, or basketball. He also enjoyed listening to smooth jazz music.

Calverta is survived by his loving wife Berdena; children Calverta Palmer, Jr., Milton Maurice (Tracey) Palmer, Christopher Palmer, Taleetha Palmer, and Julisa Palmer; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; siblings Idell Palmer, Mary Evans, Linda Gendrett, Darnel “Stoney” Palmer, and Claude “Peaches” Palmer; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; siblings Adell Palmer, Calvin “Junebug” Palmer, and Johnny Ray Palmer; and several nieces and nephews.
