Brenden Ryder Patrick Edwards

August 21, 2004 — December 19, 2025

Brenden Ryder Patrick Edwards, 21, of Rockford, passed away on December 19, 2025, at Javon Bea Hospital. He was born on August 21, 2004, the son of Ryan Edwards and Karla Rodgers. He was the beloved brother of Austin Edwards, Bryanna Edwards, and Brytnee Edwards.

Brenden was a giving soul, capable of helping others throughout his life and in the end. Through Gift of Hope, he gave the gift of life by donating his organs, allowing parts of him to live on through others.

He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 2022 after years of hard work and dedication, and later became a Union laborer, working as a slate and tile roofer, achievements he was extremely proud of.

Brenden had always loved riding fast. Growing up riding four-wheelers only nurtured that passion. Leading Brenden to purchase a dirt bike with his own money. He loved everything about the outdoors and took great pride in working on his bike, often dedicating hours to it. Brenden was the kind of person who could learn and do anything if he tried hard enough. His driven personality and resilience never went unnoticed. Whether for work or for fun, once he set his mind on something, he wouldn’t stop until he felt complete. Brenden also loved video games. Growing up, he taught his sisters how to play all his favorite games. They shared, “We may not have been anywhere near his skill level, but he still had the patience to allow us to learn from him and get better as time went on. We will forever look up to him.” He spent many hours playing Geometry Dash, where his favorite level, Theory of Everything 2, stood out. He attempted that level over 7000 times before completing it for the first time. This level is famously difficult, requiring players to learn from mistakes and keep going no matter how many times they fail. It was something he loved because it mirrored his own determination and resilience. Brenden will forever be remembered as a listening ear to all, always ready with thoughtful advice and wise words in return.

Survivors include his parents Ryan Edwards and Karla Rodgers; siblings Austin Edwards, Bryanna Edwards, and Brytnee Edwards; grandparents; aunts and uncles; and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 6204 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111. www.statelinecremations.com
