Brad Hayes

December 31, 1969 — November 15, 2025

Brad Lee Hayes, of Poplar Grove, IL, passed away on November 15, 2025, at the age of 58. He was born on October 17, 1967, in Belvidere to James Woodrow Hayes and Carolyn Louise (Butram) Hayes.

Brad graduated from North Boone High School in 1985 and married the love of his life, Jill, on September 2, 1989. A master carpenter and proud member of the Carpenter's Local 792, Brad was known for his brilliant mind and ability to think outside the box. His craftsmanship, creativity, and strong work ethic were admired by many. Even after developing a disability, Brad continued to work with determination and pride.

A die-hard Chevy man, Brad loved old cars, woodworking, crafting, and anything that let him work with his hands. He was an avid football fanatic, especially devoted to the New Orleans Saints.

Brad had a personality that filled every room—intelligent, witty, a jokester and a self-proclaimed smartass with a heart of gold. He was loving, loyal, trustworthy, and known for his heart of service. If he cared about you, he would do anything for you. He was an amazing dad and uncle, and was often described as "the last of the good ones." Brad was also a second dad to many children, always ready to play, teach, and make them laugh.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and laughter that will be remembered by all who were lucky enough to know him.

Brad is survived by his wife Jill; children Jenna (Brian) Skowronek, Jessica (Devon) Hayes, Brandon (Janessa) Hayes, and Tatum (Gavin) Hayes; grandchildren Graylyn Stokes; father James "Buck" (Rose Ann) Hayes; siblings Anita Hayes; sibling-in-law, Daniel Masek, Susen Masek, Robert (Diana) Masek, Gena Hayes, Michael Draheim, Patricia (Wayne) Culp, Charlie (Emily) Borden, and Waylon Borden; several nieces and nephews; loving pets Luna and Limrick; family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Tannous, the Swedish American CCU Unit; niece Cassie Hayes; Ryan Robinson; and all of both Brad's and Jill's family and friends.

Brad is predeceased by his mom, Carolyn Louise (Butram) Hayes; siblings Kevin Hayes, Sandy Draheim; siblings-in-law Phillip Masek, Jimmy Wicaryus and Shane Warehime; mother-in-law Margaret "Peggy" Masek and his pet Nyx.
