Basilia Montes Gonzalez, 81, Rockford, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Generations at Neighbors of Byron. She was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, on June 14, 1943, the daughter of Alfonso Montes and Domitila Sanchez.
She will be missed by those who loved her the most, her children: Tom (Rhonda) Gomez, Jorge (Bridget French) Gonzalez, Larry (Mayra) Gonzalez, Eric (Babylynn) Gonzalez, and her grandchildren Julien Gomez and Gabriella Gonzalez.
Basilia was predeceased by her sisters Ines Flores Montes and Jovita Reyes.
Basilia's strong and generous nature made her not just a loving mother and grandmother, but the heart of her family. Her home was filled with laughter, good food, and countless memories. She could be found in her garden just about year-round, tending to her plants and flowers, her lifelong passion.
At the request of the family, no memorial services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, please consider doing an action of kindness for someone you love or a stranger. Basilia would have liked that.
