Barry Fagerstrom

December 31, 1969 — March 6, 2023

Barry K. Fagerstrom, 80, of Pecatonica, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2023, surrounded by his family and horses. Barry was born on February 21, 1943, in Beloit, Wisconsin, to Karl and Marilyn Maxine (Miller) Fagerstrom. He joined the United States Navy before employment at Hamilton Sundstrand in 1964, and retired after 40+ years of service.  Barry loved to play ping pong whenever he had the chance. He was an avid horse breeder, trainer, instructor, and showman. He was a member of International Arabian Horse Association, American Quarter Horse Association, American Buckskin Horse Association, International Buckskin Horse Association, American Paint Horse Association, National Reining Horse Association, American Ranch Horse Association, Arabian Horse Endurance Association, and that is just to name a few.  Barry was a passionate family oriented father. A true horseman, who left a legacy that will endure through the horses he has raised and trained and the people he loved and mentored. He was an inspiration to many who will remember his sense of humor and love of life.  He is survived by his loving wife, Kerry Fagerstrom; daughters, Katherine (David) Martindale, and Susan (Kermit) Krug; mother of his children, Mary Clay; stepsons, Raymond (Jennifer) Eddy, Christopher (Amber) Eddy; grandchildren, Elaine (Nex Martin) Mardaa, Gwendelynn Martindale, Benjamin Martindale, Austin Martindale, Sarah (Quentin) Blackwood, Dane Eddy, and Faith Eddy; half brother, Rick (Cindy) Fagerstrom; half sister, Tina Fagerstrom Jordan; step-brothers, Harold Lee Johnston and Donald Edward Johnston.  He is preceded in death by his parents; step-brother, Alford Johnston.
