Barbara Ann Wagner, 96, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025. Born July 28, 1928, in Rockford to Anthony and Rose (Laskoski) Herron. She graduated from Rockford East High School, Class of 1946. Barb married Ross Wagner on April 3, 1948, in Rockford. She was formerly employed by Bloomquist Furniture, Sundstrand, and the Northwestern Illinois Area Agency on Aging where she worked until she was 91 years old.
Barb loved to bowl and was on a league for many years. She was an amazing cook and baker, famous for her perfected versions of baked macaroni, lasagna, ginger snaps, cinnamon rolls, coffee cake, and apple turnovers. Everything she made was always steaming hot and delicious. She was also a stain removal wizard. She could get out any blemish and kept a spotless house. In addition, she was a paint-stripping, woodworking refinisher extraordinaire. However, what she excelled at, bar none, was being the world's best mother and grandmother. She received the Outstanding Grandmother Award in 2008. Her arms were made for holding and soothing babies and children. She was selfless and always put her family first. She made everyone feel loved and special. She was hardworking and always helping others, most often without being asked. Barb truly had a servant's heart.
She is survived by her children, Ross (Sandy) Wagner of North Carolina, Roger Wagner of
South Beloit, Janet (Randy) Carlson, and Sharon Lindquist both of Rockford; daughter-in-law, Cyndy Wagner of Clinton; grandchildren, Ross Wagner, Brent (Rachel) Wagner, Beau (Lillie) Wagner, Courtney Marcomb, Ashley (Dan) Cameron, Lauren (Phil) Carlson-Dexter, Mitchell (Kate) Lindquist, Kevin (Whitney) Lindquist, and Jaclyn Lindquist; great-grandchildren, Allexis Wagner, Austin Wagner, Griffin Dowell, Briggs Wagner, Brynn Wagner, Benjamin Carlson-Dexter, Simon Carlson-Dexter, Jesse Carlson-Dexter, Lukas Cameron, and Drew Cameron; beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
