Barbara Jo Jackson, 75, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024. Born on December 7, 1948, in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. She was the beloved daughter of Frank Rukavena and Mary Hendricks Rukavena. Barbara was raised on the family’s dairy farm in Sheldon, Wisconsin, where she developed her strong work ethic and deep connection to the land.
During the summers, Barbara worked in Chicago, where she met the love of her life, David D. Jackson. The two were married in 1968 and together raised their two sons, Sean and Adam Jackson. After David’s passing, Barbara continued to honor his memory by dedicating herself to her family and the life they built together.
Barbara enjoyed a successful career at Fisher and Zivi Advertising Firm, where her creativity and keen eye and knowledge were evident in her work. Outside of her professional life, she found great joy in her flower gardens and took pride in creating a warm and inviting home, filled with fine furnishings that reflected her impeccable taste. One of her greatest joys was her granddaughter Krystal, with whom she shared a special bond. Barbara’s love for her family was unparalleled, and she imparted her values of hard work, love, and perseverance to those around her.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Rukavena; her brother Frank Rukavena; her sisters, Elizabeth Fiedler and Alyce Boardman.
She is survived by her sons, Sean and Adam Jackson; and her granddaughter, Krystal Jackson.
Barbara will also be remembered by many friends and extended family members who were touched by her kindness and unwavering spirit.
