Armando Rodriguez

October 29, 1952 — February 7, 2025

Armando Rodriguez, 72, of Rockford, IL passed away surrounded by family on February 7, 2025. Armando was born on October 29, 1952, in Puerto Rico, son to Florencio Rodriguez and Olga Iglesias. A proud Army veteran from 1972 till 1974, he served both in the Korean and Vietnam War. He was an avid sports fan, from rooting for his home teams like the Bears, Cubs and the Bulls, to taking his grandkids and great grandkids to their sport events. When Armando was in Puerto Rico, he was a professional basketball player "Los Piratas", with being 6ft 3in he was perfect for basketball. He volunteered at St. Edwards Catholic Church, helping his daughter and taking care of his granddaughter in the process. Armando worked for Nissan in Marengo as well as Bergstrom; he loved to eat Puerto Rican food particularly his Puerto Rican rice. Armando loved his family and his country, Puerto Rico.

He is survived by his wife Gladys Guzman; his children Amanda Rodriguez; Hector (Brenda) Muniz Jr.; Armando Rodriguez Jr; and Ashleigh Rodriguez; his grandchildren Justina Blodgett; Mariah Muniz; Angelina Muniz; and Hector Muniz III; and his great grandchildren Aurora Muniz; his sisters Casilda Rodriguez; Olga Rodriguez; Reneilda Rodriguez; a special thanks to Medina Manor for their care and compassion; OSF hospice for being there for Armando and the family, and Veteran Affairs for looking after Armando. His is preceded by his parents Florencio Rodriguez and Olga Iglesias.
